Established by the 62nd United States Colored Infantry in the year 1886, the Lincoln University of Missouri is one among the 105 colleges and universities historically known for being established primarily to serve the African American population after the American Civil war led to the dissolution of slavery in the United States. The Lincoln University of Missouri is located in Jefferson City. One of the primary goals of the University was to combine education and labor and give the freed African Americans the education they were deprived of for the longest time.
Lincoln University of Missouri ranked 5th in the United States for its ethnic diversity. Today, Lincoln University offers both undergraduate and graduate studies to both local and international students. They have four colleges including; the College of Agricultural and Natural Sciences; College of Arts and Letters; College of Behavioral and Technological Sciences, and the College of Professional Studies. There are a total of 50 undergraduate programs offered by the University and 50 official student organizations. The University also offers online distance learning programs both in the undergraduate and graduate levels which are perfect for students.
Lincoln University of Missouri is among the top ten universities in the Midwest to have the most number of International students in their graduate programs. The University currently offers six graduate programs in the areas of Arts, Education, Science, Business Administration, and Educational Specialist. The University also recently launched their Master’s in International Peace Corps and Opportunity.
Stretching out to 157 acres of land in Jefferson City, Lincoln University offers superior facilities in all colleges. Undergraduate students may apply for scholarships depending on their credentials. There are six available scholarships; the highest being the Curator’s scholarship, which requires students to be on the top 10% of their high school graduating class for eligibility. The Curator’s scholarship covers 90% of tuition fees. There are also separate departmental scholarships given to students who excel in their chosen field of studies. The Lincoln University offers many opportunities for study in varying areas of specialty in an ethnically diverse environment.
